Resources on Various Means of Expression on Life Cycle of the Frog
Collect pictures off the web in google image on the different
stages of the frog’s life cycle and place them appropriately in a Pic Collage
on the iPad using Pic Collage App
Draw pictures of the different stages of the frog’s life cycle
and capture those digitally using the iPad and camera App, place in Pic Collage . Arrange in Pic Collage according to the cycle.
Camera App: capture images of real frogs at various stages in the life cycle to incorporate into Pic Collage or Book Creator.
Capture video of various stages of the frog lifestyle or of other students describing each stage of the life cycle and important features of the frog at each stage.
Tie the video to images and make the movie in iMovie with credits, text, transitions, voice over etc.
Use pictures from drawings or digital online and develop an
iBook in Book Creator. Capture video, images and images of drawings, voice
recordings for students who have difficulties writing (they would verbally
explain the different stages of the frog’s life cycle). Export to iBooks bookshelf. Share with class using Airserver software.
Develop a webmap of captured images in google or those you have collected on the web and develop a webmap of the life cycle of the frog. Add audio recording, enlarge text, voice to text where /when required
Develop a podcast on the life cycle of the frog. Tell a story or complete an interview with a scientist (peer scientist).
Utilize PlayDoh and Wikki Stix to develop a 3D model of the
life cycle of the frog. Enrichment activity: Capture
each step using Claymation or incorporate into iMovie and produce a movie
using the capture video and images.
Offer students option to use computer or write with pen and paper about what they
know about the life cycle of the frog. Tell a story about a frog or write a journal about a day in the life of a frog.
Use alternate access Apps and Assistive Technology as needed to enhance performance with written output i.e. iWordQ on the iPad (word prediction), Dictation on the iPad (voice to text), CoWriter on the computer, Apps like Clicker Writer to support and enhance performance of student with emergent literacy skills and global delays.

UDL Lesson Plan on Life Cycle of the Frog
Introductory Lesson: View the Video of Frogs
(whole class view on Whiteboard via Airserver or direct connection to computer to LCD, assign Closed Captioning in Youtube)Activity: Discuss, Draw, locate pictures on the computer or iPad, develop a Pic Collage on different frogs. ESL students could identify frogs that are prevalent in their country. Comparisons could be made between different frogs in different countries. Colour different frogs, capture pictures online, take photos of colouring and develop a collage in Pic Collage App of different frogs. Share via Airserver.
Refer to Vocabulary related to the frog and the frog cycle. Complete that activity utilizing various tools to relating to the new vocabulary. Capture pictures for later use in ebook, collage or webmap development.
SESSION #2
View this accesible video on the Life Cycle of the Frog

Enlarge to full screen and assign CC (closed captioning). Offer the transcript from the website to any student who might also need to it review with text to speech, print out background information and/or transcript or have it accessed on the iPad to have read aloud, magnified or to copy/paste into SymbolSupport to add images to text for access by students who are emergent literacy learners.
Goals and Objectives
Life Science: Animal Growth and Changes
General Curriculum Outcome (Nova Scotia Science Curriculum Grade 2):
Students will be expected to
Investigating the Needs and Life Cycle of an Organism
• select and use materials to observe an organisms life cycle and ask
questions about the organisms needs and changes in growth
•describe and record observations, in various formats, of changes in
the appearance and activity of an organism through its life cycle
•propose suggestions for meeting the needs of the organism being
investigated and draw conclusions about its growth patterns or stages
based on observations
•identify new questions about the needs and growth patterns of other
organisms (202-9)
Comparing Life Cycles of Familiar Animals
•compare and make predictions about the life cycles of familiar
animals
•describe features of natural and human-made environments that
support the health and growth of some familiar animals
